Ground and air search fails to find missing Gowanda woman

Kimberly Militello has not been seen since the evening of December 22.
Kimberly Militello, 59, of Maltbie Road in Gowanda was last seen at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22. At that time she was wearing gray sweatpants and a gray long-sleeve t-shirt.

Militello, who has medical issues, is 5-feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds.

Authorities in Cattaraugus County have suspended the search for a missing 59-year-old woman.

An extensive search by ground and air was conducted in the area on Dec. 23 by officers with the State Police, Gowanda Fire Department and Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office along with the Erie County Sheriff’s helicopter.

A canine search tracked Militello having travelled along a creek bed, but dogs lost the scent at a boggy area.

Her family is requesting area residents perform an inspection of their property, especially in locations that might provide some shelter from the weather.

If anything is found that may lead to her whereabouts is found, residents are asked to contact the Gowanda Police Department.
