New York State Police report for March 4

• Following a three-month-long investigation by a NYSP Investigator, in conjunction with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and NYS Department of Corrections Inspector General’s Office, Brendon Berndt, 27, an inmate at Gowanda Correctional Facility was charged with second-degree conspiracy, to commit murder.

According to authorities, while Berndt was incarcerated at the prison, he attempted to hire an undercover NYSP Investigator, who was posing as a hit man. Berndt allegedly wanted the victim of the crime, for which he was incarcerated, murdered.

If convicted, Berndt faces up to 20 additional years in prison.

•Gerald Hubbard, 46, of School Street, North Collins, was charged Feb. 19 with petit larceny following an incident during which three rings and two gold necklaces were stolen from a former girlfriend. The larcenies reportedly occurred sometime in January, when Hubbard was living with the victim.

Hubbard is due in North Collins Town Court.

• Brett Elliott, 20, of Route 438, Gowanda, was charged Feb. 19 with DWI after being stopped for speeding on Route 438.

According to authorities, Elliott had a reportable B.A.C. of .11 percent.

Elliott is due in Brant Town Court.
